| MASON SQUARE FARMERS' MARKET |
| Tasha Moultrie, Program Coordinator of Target Hunger: Springfield, stated that the Concerned Citizens of Mason Square Farmers' Market is held on Saturdays 9am to 1pm. The market will be held, rain or shine, until October 4th. It's located at 11 Wilbraham Road (near Eastern Av) in the Baystate Mason Square Neighborhood Health Center Parking Lot. I arrived at the market about 10:30 and it was relatively busy. Most of the vendors sold fresh produce. Baked goods and tee shirts were also for sale. "We get eight to ten farmer/vendors a week," Moultrie informed me. "The market sells fresh locally grown produce and we accept WIC, food stamps, Senior Vouchers and cash." She also added, "Come early, we sell out of some things fast." Concerned Citizens of Mason Square is composed of residents living in the neighborhoods bordering Mason Square. This is the second year of the Farmers's Market and reports are that business is good. |
